Getting Hippy With The Lippy

After an adulthood consisting of no make up (except for the occasional bit of lipstick for an important business meeting) at all for 11 months of the year, with a Boots binge in preparation for the Christmas work do, earlier this year I decided to embrace the make up voodoo. There’s a whole other post about that in the offing, but it involved a significant number of purchases. I’m justifying it to myself on the basis that it’s really 20 year’s worth of make up, just bought over six months.

Today, I decided I was going to pop into the Mac shop and thought it would be a good idea to know what I already had, so I could avoid buying the same thing again. The eyeshadow was (sort of) under control, but then I started looking at the lippy. Here are some photos:

Please bear in mind that these photos do not include the (few) lip glosses or tinted lip balms I have. Unless I’ve miscounted, that’s 103 lipsticks. Given that the advice appears to be 2-3 years’ life for a lipstick, even if I wear lippy every day, I’m going to struggle to use all of these up! I’ve seen an estimate of between 50-70 uses for a stick, which is 6 lipsticks a year. But each one is different and where would I be without choice?

So I’m thinking the lipstick buying needs to go on hold for a wee while.
